- A delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)attended the 23rd International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties,which took place in Turkey’s Izmir city from October 20-22.

The event, hosted by the Communist Party of Turkey,brought together 120 delegates from 68 communist and worker parties of 54countries worldwide. Read full story

- The Ministers of Public Security, Industry and Trade, andConstruction, and chairpersons of the People’s Committees of provinces andcentrally-run cities nationwide have been asked to seriously and effectivelyimplement the fire prevention and fighting work, planning, and constructionmanagement for multi-story apartment buildings.

In an official dispatch signed on October 22,Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked for further review of regulations, norms,and standards on multi-story buildings, thus promptly addressing shortcomingsand ensuring absolute safety for people and assets during the process of use. Read full story

- The Government has proposed the National Assembly (NA) toallow it to continue the 2% interest rate support policy for enterprises,cooperatives, and business households.

Presenting the results of the implementation of the NA’sResolution 43/2022/QH15 (Resolution 43) on fiscal and monetary policies tosupport Vietnam’s post-pandemic socio-economic recovery and development at theNA's 6th session on October 23, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen ChiDung said that after nearly two years of performance, Resolution 43 has provedto be a correct and timely decision of the NA as Vietnam's socio-economicsituation faced many difficulties and challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Read full story

- Vietnamese carriers Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, BambooAirways, Pacific Airlines and Vasco have offered over 6 million tickets forsale to meet rising travel demand during Lunar New Year (Tet) 2024, which isforecast to be higher than last year.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), theVietnamese airlines operated a total of 221,197 flights in the first ninemonths of this year. Of which, Vietnam Airlines Group, comprising VietnamAirlines, Pacific Airlines and Vasco, operated over 100,000 flights, or about45% of the market share. It was followed by Vietjet Air with 83,933 flights,equivalent to 38%; and Bamboo Airways 32,538 flights, roughly 15%. Read full story

- The structure of public investment capital in the last few yearshas changed in line with Vietnam’s economic reforms, boosting the restructuringof industries, and regions as well as balancing socio-economic development andsocial welfare, said Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung.

- The trade relationship betweenVietnam and the United Kingdom experienced significant growth in bilateraltrade over the past year, according to data released by the UK government'sDepartment for International Trade on October 19.

The total trade in goods and services between theUK and Vietnam during the four quarters leading up to the end of Q1 2023amounted to 6.7 billion GBP (8.14 billion USD), marking a substantial increaseof 16.6% compared to the same period in 2022. Read full story

- Ho Chi Minh City tallied 6.687 billion USD in overseasremittances during the first nine months of 2023, up 40% year on year and 1.3%over all of 2022, according to the local branch of the State Bank of Vietnam(SBV).

The remittances stood at 2.353 billion USD in thethird quarter, up 6.2% from Q2. Totals in Q2 were up 4.5% from Q1, statisticsshow. Read full story

Deputy Minister of Public Security congratulates Lao officials following succesful 12th National Party Congress

Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hungconveyed the warmest congratulations of the Central Public Security Party Committee, the Ministry of Public Security leadership, and the Vietnamese People’s Public Security Forces to Lakhamfong and other Lao public security leaders on the congress’s success and their election to key leadership positions for the new term.

NA Standing Committee's key work agenda for 2026 approved

A major focus will be preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th NA and to People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term. The NASC will coordinate with the National Election Council, the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, and relevant agencies and organisations to continue implementing the election plan, organise oversight of the electoral process, and carry out its duties and powers as prescribed.
