Hanoi (VNA) – The following is a list of selected news summaries reported last night by the Vietnam News Agency.

- The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho must proactively set strategic breakthroughs following the merger, paving the way for rapid and sustainable development, stated Party General Secretary To Lam at a working session with the Standing Boards of the Party Committees of Can Tho, and Soc Trang and Hau Giang provinces on June 4 in Can Tho.

In his remarks, the Party chief stressed that the socio-economic development planning for the newly merged Can Tho city must go beyond merely combining the existing strengths of the three localities, focusing on creating new value chains based on their complementary advantages, with infrastructure connectivity, digital transformation, green economy, and circular economy serving as pillars for sustainable development. - Bulgarian President Rumen Radev highlighted potential for cooperation with Vietnam in various fields during his reception in Sofia on June 4 for Vietnamese Ambassador to Bulgaria Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet who came to present her credentials to him.

- Tran Luu Quang, Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and head of its Commission for Policies and Strategies, hosted a reception in Hanoi on June 4 for Takebe Tsutomu, Special Advisor to the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance (JVPFA).

Quang expressed his delight at the rapid and substantive development of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Japan, noting that the recent official visit by Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and his spouse has opened up new areas of cooperation between the two countries. - The Vietnam Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence Week 2025 – Super Vietnam 2025 opened in Da Nang city on June 4.

The event, jointly held by the Danang Centre for Research and Training in Microchip Design and Artificial Intelligence (DASC), Orochi Network, and FPT Online, aims to connect and attract domestic and international resources to foster the development of the blockchain and AI ecosystem in Vietnam, and take advantage the sandbox mechanism and support policies of the Government, contributing to the systematic development of blockchain and AI. - The Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh province, in collaboration with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Institute of Sino-Nom Studies, on June 4 organised an international scientific conference themed "Han-Nom Inscriptions on Non Nuoc Mountain – Potential Documentary Heritage."

This event aimed to gather opinions from foreign experts, scholars, and managers in the cultural field on the process of developing and finalising the nomination dossier for the Han (Chinese script) - Nom (Vietnamese ideographic script) Inscriptions on Non Nuoc Mountain, in Van Giang ward of Hoa Lu city to be inscribed in the UNESCO Memory of the World Programme for the Asia-Pacific Region. - The Philippines and Thailand have announced their plans to buy attack fighters from the Republic of Korea (RoK) and Sweden, respectively.

The Korean defence firm Korea Aerospace Industries Ltd. (KAI) has signed a deal with the Philippine defense ministry to export 12 FA-50 light attack fighters by 2030, according to the RoK's Yonhap news agency./. Read full story

NA Standing Committee's key work agenda for 2026 approved

A major focus will be preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th NA and to People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term. The NASC will coordinate with the National Election Council, the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, and relevant agencies and organisations to continue implementing the election plan, organise oversight of the electoral process, and carry out its duties and powers as prescribed.
