Hanoi (VNA) – The following is a list of selected news summaries reported last night by the Vietnam News Agency.

– The Party Committee of the Government for the 2020 - 2025 term held its second meeting on June 3 to discuss, provide opinions on, and further refine documents to be submitted to the first Congress of the Government's Party Committee for the 2025 - 2030 term.

At the meeting, the committee discussed the draft political reports to be presented at the congress. Specifically, the discussions centred on evaluating the implementation of tasks during the 2020 - 2025 period; identifying directions, goals, targets, tasks and solutions for 2025 - 2030; as well as reviewing the Party building activities of the current term and outlining directions and tasks for the work in the next term. – Politburo member, Permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Cam Tu on June 3 received Acting Chairman of the Commission for External Relations of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee Bounleua Phandanouvong, who is on a three-day official visit to Vietnam.

Tu proposed that in the context of complex developments in the world and the region, with intertwined opportunities and challenges, the commissions for external relations of both sides should continue to promote the tradition of their strong relationship, enhance information exchange, and closely coordinate to successfully fulfill their assigned tasks, thereby contributing to strengthening and deepening the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and the two nations. – The Vietnamese Party and State always value and expect to develop friendly and multifaceted cooperation with Hungary and its political parties, including the Hungarian Socialist Party (MSZP), based on mutual trust, understanding, and respect, said Secretary of the CPV Central Committee and head of its Commission for Policies and Strategies Tran Luu Quang.

During a reception in Hanoi on June 3 for a MSPZ delegation led by its President Komjáthi Imre, who is in Vietnam from June 2-7, Quang hailed their visit which coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties, describing it as a testament to the strong ties between the CPV and MSZP and traditional friendship between the two nations. – The Vietnamese Party and State want to further deepen bilateral ties with Sri Lanka on the back of close friendship, high political trust, and shared values and interests, said Politburo member and Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation Nguyen Trong Nghia.

Nghia, who is Secretary of the Party Central Committee and is paying an official visit to Sri Lanka from June 1-4 on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties, told Sri Lankan Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya that Vietnam highly values Sri Lanka’s important role and position in the region. – During its ongoing 46th session, the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on June 3 mulled over and voted to approve an ordinance amending Article 10 of Population Ordinance No. 06/2003/PL-UBTVQH11, which was previously revised and supplemented under Ordinance No. 08/2008/PL-UBTVQH12.

The revision aims to address disparities in fertility rates across different regions and demographic groups, and to avoid a decline in fertility below replacement level – a factor that could negatively affect sustainable economic, social, security, and defence development in the future. – Global trade fluctuations are pushing Vietnamese firms to transform production and bolster internal capabilities, according to experts at a seminar held in Ho Chi Minh City on June 3.

– The third Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF III), which is set to take place from June 29 to July 5 in the central coastal city of Da Nang, will screen more than 100 films.

Jointly organised by the Vietnam Film Development Association (VFDA) and the Da Nang People’s Committee, the event will feature around 200 screenings, the organisers said at a press conference held in Hanoi on June 3. Read full story./.

Ship 016–Quang Trung of Brigade 162 under Naval Region 4 departed Sydney Harbour on the morning of March 25 for home after successfully completing activities within the framework of the Exercise Kakadu Fleet Review 2026 marking the 125th anniversary of the Royal Australian Navy and the multilateral naval exercise Kakadu 2026.
