- Party General Secretary To Lam expressed his hope that the proposed merger of Da Nang city and Quang Nam province will transform the new Quang Nam – Da Nang into a socio-economic powerhouse in central Vietnam and a trailblaser in modernisation.

During a working session with the standing boards of the Da Nang Municipal and Quang Nam Provincial Party Committees, Lam urged faster economic restructuring to boost labour productivity and harness local strengths. He outlined key goals, including an international financial centre, a free trade zone, a modern coastal city, and a world-class tourism hub blending leisure and heritage. Read full story

- Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva left Hanoi on March 29, successfully concluding his three-day state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of President Luong Cuong.

During his stay in Vietnam, President Lula da Silva laid a wreath and paid tribute President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum, as well as laid flowers at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs on Bac Son street, Ba Dinh district, Hanoi. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called on the entire nation to push beyond its limits in order to develop a robust railway industry while chairing the first meeting of the steering committee for key national railway projects on March 29.

The committee, headed by the PM, was established following Decision No.609/QD-TTg issued by the PM earlier this month, aims to oversee key railway projects, including the North-South high-speed railway and rail lines connecting Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong, Hanoi - Lang Son, and Mong Cai - Ha Long (Quang Ninh), as well as urban railway projects in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on March 30 chaired a meeting with the steering committee for reviewing and settling difficulties for investment projects, aiming to seek solutions to stalled ones.

A report from ministries and localities showed that about 1,500 projects across the country are currently facing difficulties, spanning about 20 different issue groups. They include public investment projects, non-budget investment ones, and those under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. Read full story

- A 106-member Vietnamese rescue delegation from the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of Public Security arrived in Yangon airport in Myanmar on March 30 afternoon to assist with earthquake relief efforts.

The military force is led by Major General Pham Van Ty, Deputy Director of the Ministry of National Defence's Search and Rescue Department, while the public security team is headed by Colonel Nguyen Minh Khuong, Deputy Director of the Police Department of Fire Fighting, Fire Prevention and Rescue under the Ministry of Public Security. NA leader hosts Belgian King in Hanoi

To further strengthen Vietnam-Belgium relations, especially parliamentary cooperation, both sides agreed to enhance delegation exchanges at all levels, particularly between parliamentary committees and friendship groups. They also pledged to share legislative and supervisory experience, coordinate positions in international organisations, support each other’s candidacies for UN bodies, and effectively implement the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).
