Hanoi (VNA) – The following is a list of selected news summaries reported last night by the Vietnam News Agency.

– Party General Secretary To Lam chaired a working session in Hanoi on the afternoon of March 4 with the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation to review preparations for a draft regulation on political and ideological work within the Party.

General Secretary Lam stressed the need for a shared understanding that while economic development provides the material foundation enabling the country to advance rapidly, political, ideological and cultural work furnishes the spiritual strength allowing the nation to progress further and more securely in its new phase of development. – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting of the Government's standing members with ministries and relevant agencies on March 4 to assess the situation and discuss scenarios and response measures to recent global developments that could adversely affect Vietnam, particularly the increasingly complex conflict in the Middle East and other regions.

The PM instructed relevant ministries and sectors to submit daily reports to the Government Office before 1pm. He also called on agencies involved to remain on constant standby and to respond in a timely, flexible and effective manner. Read full story

– Inspection and Supervision Team No. 26 of the Party Central Committee’s Politburo and Secretariat on March 4 convened a conference to announce its 2026 inspection and supervision decision for the Standing Board of the Government Party Committee.

The supervision will focus on the leadership and direction in the dissemination and implementation of the 14th National Party Congress’s Resolution; as well as in the execution of the Politburo’s Directive No. 01-CT/TW dated January 23, 2026 on studying, disseminating and implementing the Resolution. – Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang hosted a reception for Kerry Person, Vice President of Data Centre Planning at Amazon Web Services (AWS) – part of US-based e-commerce giant Amazon, on March 4 in Hanoi.

Deputy PM hails cooperation in personnel training with Japan

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra highly valued the training programme jointly implemented since 2022 by Vietnam’s Ministry of Home Affairs and Japan’s erex Co., Ltd, which focuses on enhancing public administration capacity, particularly for grassroots officials, young civil servants and female cadres. PM Hung noted that Vietnam is preparing new policies to attract greater foreign investment, including from Singapore. He called Singapore’s support in developing international financial centres in Vietnam, as well as expanding and upgrading next-generation Vietnam–Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIP) in tandem with high technology transfer.
