- Party General Secretary and State President To Lam hosted a reception for Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen in Hanoi on September 19.

The top leader asked the ambassador to convey his thanks to First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez for Cuba’s readiness to dispatch experts and doctors to Vietnam, helping the country deal with the devastating consequences of Typhoon Yagi. - At the United Nations, Party General Secretary and State President To Lam will bring forward important messages in strong support of multilateralism, with the UN playing the central role in promoting global peace, cooperation, and development, stated Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son.

- In the aftermath of a series of explosions involving pagers and walkie-talkies in Lebanon on September 17 and 18, the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt, which concurrently serves Lebanon, has confirmed that all Vietnamese nationals in the country remain safe.

The explosions, which occurred in Beirut and other regions, resulted in significant casualties. However, the Vietnamese community in Lebanon has not reported any injuries. There are 11 Vietnamese nationals working and studying in Lebanon, mostly in Beirut and neighbouring areas. Read full story

- The assistance provided by the international community and overseas Vietnamese to the victims of Typhoon Yagi in Vietnam is invaluable, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang has stated.

At the ministry’s regular press briefing on September 19, the diplomat noted that showing solidarity and compassion for the losses and damage suffered by the Vietnamese government and people, especially those in the heavily impacted northern provinces, many countries and international organisations have sent letters and messages of condolences. To help Vietnam swiftly recover from the storm’s aftermath, they have also provided direct and indirect support such as financial aid, devices and supplies for accommodation and search and rescue work, essential items, and expert assistance, among others. - Vietnamese businesses are displaying their products at the World Food India 2024 (WFI 2024) that opened in New Delhi on September 19.

Vietnam is one of the two selected as Focus Country at WFI 2024, the third of its kind. The Southeast Asian nation has set up two pavilions, one covering 27sq.m and the other 150sq.m, showcasing agricultural products and processed food, including fresh and dried fruits, cashew nuts, coffee, tea, pepper, cinnamon, rice wine, and instant noodles, by more than 20 firms.
