Hanoi (VNA) – Myanmar authorities are intensifying operations against online scam and illegal gambling networks, continuing to dismantle unlawful structures in the Myawady-Mae Htaw Tha Lay area (known as KK Park) and detaining foreign nationals linked to activities in Shwe Kokko.
As of November 29, a total of 270 out of 635 illegal buildings in KK Park had been demolished.
In the Shwe Kokko area, mine-clearance operations began on November 18, alongside inspections targeting facilities used for online fraud. Between November 18 and 29, authorities identified 135 illegal buildings, which have since been sealed to prevent their reuse.
According to updated figures from Shwe Kokko, 2,042 foreign nationals who entered Myanmar illegally have been detected, along with 3,310 computers, 21,870 mobile phones, 102 Starlink terminals, 22 routers, and various devices used in online gambling operations. The confiscated items have been systematically destroyed, and clearance activities remain ongoing.
From January 30 to November 29, Myanmar detained a total of 12,915 foreign nationals entering the country illegally. After verification, 10,029 of them were systematically deported to relevant countries via Thailand in line with legal procedures. More than 2,880 others are prepared for transfer to their respective countries./.
