NA Party Committee’s Standing Board discusses amendments to Constitution

Hanoi (VNA) – Politburo member, Secretary of the National Assembly (NA) Party Committee, and NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man chaired a meeting of the NA Party Committee’s Standing Board to review and amend the 2013 Constitution.

Participants gave opinions on a draft project to review, amend and supplement the 2013 Constitution and laws of the State to serve the re-organisation of the political apparatus (according to Conclusion No. 129-KL/TW dated March 10, 2025 on the policy of amending and supplementing a number of articles of the 2013 Constitution); and a draft report on perfecting institutions to serve the rearrangement of the political system (according to the request in Document No. 13712-CV/VPTW dated March 10, 2025 of the Party Central Committee’s Office).

The top legislator underlined the importance of the work, noting that the workload is enormous, involving the responsibilities of many agencies and organisations, and is linked to the policy of streamlining and restructuring the political apparatus.

He stated that this work requires caution, objectivity, democracy, scientific method, specificity, and efficiency, with strict, high-quality procedures based on innovation and a groundbreaking mindset, he stated, noting that it must also ensure the participation of experts, scientists, managers, and people.

Public consultation on the constitutional amendments will take place over one month, with feedback summarisation expected to be completed within five days. Relevant agencies will hold continuous meetings to ensure that any issues that are clear and proven by practices will be collected and reported to competent authorities.

According to Man, standing members of the NA's Committee for Legal and Judicial Affairs have urgently studied and revised the draft projects, focusing on six groups of issues; and the draft reports, concentrating on reviewing 58 Party documents, 12 articles of the 2013 Constitution, and 421 legal documents./.
