Hanoi (VNA) - In July, the National Promotion Month 2020 will be launched nationwide, both on traditional commerce and e-commerce, with the involvement of businesses in all sectors.

In an interview with e-Newspaper VietnamPlus, Vu Ba Phu, Director of the Trade Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said “In the National Promotion Month 2020, businesses offer discount up to 100%”.

Numerous promotional activities will be offered during the month, with various products and services offering high quality and reasonable prices.

Other promotional activities, such as exhibitions, trade fairs and traditional local festivals will also be held across localities to promote tourism development.

According to Vu Ba Phu, the national promotion month in July 2020 is hosted by the Trade Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in coordination with relevant agencies and localities and businesses.

Shopping demand and services have both fallen during the COVID-19 pandemic. The program, carried out nationwide, will offer discounts of up to 100% to stimulate domestic consumption, thus helping businesses gradually restore their operations.

Enterprises will not have to register to participate in the program. The programme aims to create a premise for the coming years, thus developing policies to support businesses.

Collective promotional programmes have been held in some localities in the past, mainly in big cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho and Hai Phong. However, it has been difficult for consumers nationwide to access these programmes.

The national promotional programme, launched for the first time, will be organised in all localities across the nation, thus stimulating domestic consumption demand and economic growth of the country.

May and June saw an increase in consumption, yet spending remains lower than the same period in recent years. The Government needs to support businesses in promotional activities to stimulate shopping needs. Therefore, the programme will be launched in July.

Businesses must always ensure the quality of goods and services in promotions. They should also offer reasonable prices to attract customers. During the implementation of the Promotional Month, the Agency of Trade Promotion always recommends businesses provide products of good quality and strictly comply with their promotional commitments. The agency will coordinate with the General Department of Market Control, the Department of Competition and Consumer Protection, the provincial Departments of Industry and Trade and relevant agencies to direct, monitor, inspect and handle the violation of sales promotions in accordance with the law.

Businesses participating in the programme will offer discounts of up to 100%. Any businesses can join the programme without having to register for the National Promotional Month 2020, as long as they observe current law provisions.

This is the first time the Ministry of Industry and Trade has organised the “National Promotional Month" on a national scale to stimulate domestic consumption demand to help boost production and business activities.

After the program, the Agency of Trade Promotion will collect comments and feedback from localities, businesses, associations, and commodity sectors to evaluate the effectiveness of the program and to report to the Ministry of Industry and Trade for approval of implementation for the program in the future.

Positive results are expected from the program. The Agency will make a proposal to competent authorities, thus developing practical policies and tools to better attract participation among the business community and customers to join the program./.
