Hai Phong (VNA) – A working delegation from the Vietnam People’s Navy completed a meaningful visit to Truong Sa (Spratly) and the DK1 oil rig from April 19–25, during which they engaged with military personnel and residents ahead of the 50th anniversary of Truong Sa's liberation (April 29).

The delegation distributed gifts worth nearly 5.2 billion VND (208,000 USD) to soldiers and civilians. A key moment was the flag-raising ceremony on Spratly Island, followed by solemn incense offerings at the Ho Chi Minh Memorial and the Monument to Fallen Heroes in Truong Sa town.

The trip featured vibrant activities, including performances celebrating Vietnam’s seas, islands, homeland, and soldiers. Art and chess competitions, along with initiatives to raise awareness of the country's sea and islands, and the heroic Vietnam People’s Navy, were held. A writing contest also captured participants’ reflections on Truong Sa.

Looking forward, the Vietnam People’s Navy plans to organise 27 trips to Truong Sa this year./.

Each Vietnamese person uses more than one plastic bag per day, resulting in approximately 31.4 billion plastic bags being discarded into the environment annually. Only 17% of these are reused or recycled, and single-use plastics make their way to landfills or are released into the environment.
