New Da Nang city applies technology to better serve people

Trial operations at the new public administrative service centres in Thanh Khe and Ngu Hanh Son wards show that the reception and processing of citizens' documents on the new wards’ data system have been smoothly handled by the staff, enabling quick settlement and facilitating easy access to public services for the people.

Da Nang (VNA) - Da Nang city and Quang Nam province are coordinating in applying technology in the pilot operation of the two-tier local administration model in six new communes and wards from June 21 to 23, as they will be merged into a new Da Nang city from July 1.

Specifically, the model is being tested in Da Nang’s Thanh Khe and Ngu Hanh Son wards and Hoa Vang commune, and Quang Nam’s Tam Ky ward and Dai Loc and Tien Phuoc communes.

Trial operations at the new public administrative service centres in Thanh Khe and Ngu Hanh Son wards show that the reception and processing of citizens' documents on the new wards’ data system have been smoothly handled by the staff, enabling quick settlement and facilitating easy access to public services for the people.

Many administrative procedures are openly available via QR codes, with clear and detailed instructions to help citizens easily access them. Notably, some have been processed quickly, with results delivered immediately upon completion.

To better serve local people, many facilities and equipment in the new wards have been invested in and upgraded. It is expected that by July 1, with the current capacity, personnel, equipment, and infrastructure, the wards and communes will be able to meet the public's needs in handling administrative procedures and processing citizen records without interruption, with greater efficiency and effectiveness than before.

From July 1, the new Da Nang will have 94 commune-level administrative units, including 23 wards, 70 communes, and one special zone. The restructuring of commune- and ward-level administrative units in the city aims to streamline the administrative apparatus, enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of state management, and meet the demands of urban development in the new phase.

The "one-stop-shop" units of districts will be transformed into public administrative service centres in the new wards and communes.

With the implementation of the two-tier administration model, the city is accelerating the application of technology in administrative procedure processing and government management. All feedback, comments, and suggestions from citizens are received and processed through the Call Centre 1022, which then forwards them to the relevant wards and communes. Depending on the content and scope, the feedback is directed to specialised units for review and settlement. The Call Centre 1022 receives the responses and publicly sends them back to the citizens.

Currently, Da Nang's Intelligent Operations Centre (IOC) has begun sharing data with wards and communes. Based on the data and information provided by the IOC, local ward and commune leaders can use it to support and enhance their overall administrative management and decision-making./.

Quang Tri tightens control of vessels to prevent IUU fishing

Amid rising demand for offshore fishing in the early days of the new year, local authorities in the central coastal province of Quang Tri have stepped up controls on vessels entering and leaving ports to ensure compliance with regulations and prevent illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

By early 2026, Quang Ninh had established a transparent fisheries data ecosystem. All 4,116 fishing vessels of six metres or longer operating in the province have been registered and fully updated on the national system VNfishbase. Notably, information of all local vessel owners has been verified and synchronised with the national VNeID system, enabling faster and more accurate traceability and identification of fishermen.
