Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - A Vietnam-Thailand Online Business Matching event washeld in Hanoi on January 7 to connect Vietnamese and Thai companies in light ofthe COVID-19 pandemic.

Theevent was co-organised by the Department of International Trade Promotion(DITP), the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand - Office of Commercial Affairs, theRoyal Thai Embassy in Hanoi and the Vietnam National Trade Fair &Advertising JSC (Vinexad).

Theevent aimed to link companies from the two countries, helping themexchange experience and technologies for better quality, said Pannakarn Jiamsuchon,Minister Counselor, Office of Commercial Affairs, Royal Thai Embassy in Hanoi.

Exhibitorsshowcased processed food, healthcare products, baby care products, supplementsand beauty care products, she said.

Thesekinds of Thai products were familiar to and favoured by Vietnamese consumers.Vietnamese people care much about health and Thai businesses were takingadvantage of this Vietnamese potential market to introduce high quality andsuitable products that fit Vietnamese consumers' tastes, Pannakarn told Vietnam News.

Theofficial expressed her hope that a similar event with a larger scale will beheld later this year and more Thai products will be introduced to Vietnameseconsumers.

Accordingto her, 11 Thai firms and 45 Vietnamese firms attended the event online,ensuring safe trade connection between enterprises during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thishelped both local and foreign exhibitors expand their networks beyond borders,she said./.

Exports face stiff test in bid to hit 550 billion USD

To achieve export growth of over 15% as directed by the Government, the MoIT said it will prioritise a set of core measures in 2026, including expanding production capacity, developing new export products, increasing domestic content and value added, accelerating the shift from processing to manufacturing, and proactively addressing trade barriers and defence measures.
