Hanoi (VNA) - Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos on November 2 declared disaster status of four areas affected by storm Nalgae.

According to the President, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, and the southern autonomous region of Bangsamoro will be established the level of disaster status in six months.

Over the weekend, these areas had more than 1.4 million people affected by storm Nalgae.

President Marcos clarified that this resolution would promote the aid work, recovery and reconstruction of the government and private organisations and control prices of essential goods.

Disaster declarations of other regions will be considered, President Marcos added.

Nalgae was the 16th storm to have hit the Philippines this year, causing landslides, floods, and about 132 deaths by November 1./.
