Phu Yen tapping tourism potential
Situated in Vietnam’s scenic south-central region, Phu Yen province is graced with a multitude of captivating landscapes, particularly breathtaking bays and beaches. However, insiders believe the coastal province has not fully harnessed its advantages to cultivate tourism as a leading economic sector.
Among Phu Yen’s many renowned attractions, Ghenh Da Dia in Tuy An district stands out as a globally-recognized tourist destination.
Formed by volcanic eruptions millions of years ago, rising lava created distinctive interlocking rock columns that are a compelling draw for visitors.
Nevertheless, the number of tourists to this location has not met expectations.
Limited tourism infrastructure, a scarcity of high-quality accommodation, and a lack of unique tourism offerings have made Phu Yen less appealing to holidaymakers, according to insiders.
Phu Yen welcomed 2.2 million tourists in 2022, which rose to 2.9 million in 2023.
