Quang Tri (VNA) – The Quang Tri Border Guard Command and the police of Laos' Salavan province on December 26 held their 2025 annual talks to review cooperation results over the past year and agree on orientations for future collaboration.
At the event, participants noted that the two sides have effectively maintained coordination mechanisms, regularly exchanged information related to border management and protection, and strengthened communication and outreach to encourage people on both sides of the border to strictly comply with the countries’ agreement on border management and land border gate regulations.
They have also closely coordinated in monitoring the situation and combating crimes, especially drug trafficking, human trafficking, and illegal entry and exit, while promptly preventing activities by hostile and reactionary forces in exile.
The two sides agreed on key contents and signed the minutes of the talks, outlining important tasks for the coming period.
Accordingly, they will continue to closely coordinate to maintain political security and social order and safety in border areas; refrain from interfering in or infringing upon each other’s independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity. They will continue to effectively implement their signed cooperation agreements, jointly maintain the implementation of the agreement on border management and land border gate regulations, and build a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.
Both sides are also committed to strengthening coordination in information sharing and situation assessment; investigating, verifying and pursuing criminals; and promptly preventing activities by hostile and reactionary forces and individuals exploiting ethnic and religious issues to undermine national security and sow divisions in the special solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos. They will support each other in handling and resolving incidents in line with the bilateral border management agreement and the laws of each country./.
