Quang Tri records economic growth of 7.12 percent in 2018

The central province of Quang Tri fulfilled all of its set socio-economic targets in 2018 and posted an annual economic growth of 7.12 percent, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh was reported at a working session with local authorities on January 22.

Quang Tri (VNA) –
The centralprovince of Quang Tri fulfilled all of its set socio-economic targets in 2018and posted an annual economic growth of 7.12 percent, Vice President Dang ThiNgoc Thinh was reported at a working session with local authorities on January22.

The per capita gross regional domestic product(GRDP) was estimated at 43.6 million VND (1,878 USD), a year-on-year rise of8.1 percent. 

More than 29,000 national revolutionarycontributors in the province have received gifts worth over 6 billion VND(258,567 USD) from the President on the occasion of the Tet (Lunar New Year)festival 2019.

The province also spent over 1.3 billion VND(56,012 USD) to visit and present gift packages to social welfare families.

A programme was also held to raise more than 9.3billion VND (400,704 USD) to support people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Local socio-political organisations mobilised4.2 billion VND (180,963 USD) to help poor people enjoy a warm Tet holiday.

Vice President Thinh recognised the achievementsthat the province gained in 2018 and hoped that it would overcome difficultiesand challenges to fulfil tasks in 2019.

She asked the province to continue promotingpatriotic emulation movements launched by the Government, as well as pushfurther in implementing poverty reduction policies.

More specifically, thelocality should create the best conditions for businesses to develop in the privateeconomy, State economy, and foreign investment, she said, so as to obtain rapidand sustainable development in the future.–VNA

NA Standing Committee's key work agenda for 2026 approved

A major focus will be preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th NA and to People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term. The NASC will coordinate with the National Election Council, the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, and relevant agencies and organisations to continue implementing the election plan, organise oversight of the electoral process, and carry out its duties and powers as prescribed.
