Hanoi (VNA) – During the nine-day Lunar New Year break, the rail sector operated more than 1,800 train services, ensuring safety and meeting high travel demand.
According to the Vietnam Railways Corporation, the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City route accounted for 906 services, providing 384,000 seats. Other routes operated 988 services, offering a further 377,700 seats.
Punctuality rates remained high, with 97.9% of departures and 91.3% of arrivals running on time.
The rail operator said it had implemented comprehensive measures to cope with the peak period, including reinforcing staffing across transport operations, locomotive and carriage management, track and bridge maintenance, and signalling and communications systems.
Units strictly enforced the public disclosure of hotline numbers, ensured transparency in ticket sales, and stepped up efforts to prevent ticket touting, malpractice and the transport of prohibited goods. Particular attention was also paid to carriage hygiene, air conditioning, water supply and on-board medical equipment./.
