Reference exchange rate stays stable at week’s beginning

The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate at 23,272 VND per USD on April 27, unchanged from the last working day of previous week (April 24).

The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate at 23,272 VND per USD on April 27, unchanged from the last working day of previous week (April 24).

 With the current trading band of +/-3 percent, the ceiling rate applied to commercial banks during the day is 23,970 VND/USD and the floor rate 22,574 VND/USD.

The opening hour rates at commercial banks also stayed stable.

At 8:25 am, the rates listed by Vietcombank were 23,370 VND/USD (buying), and 23,580 VND/USD (selling), unchanged from April 24.

Techcombank also kept both the rates unchanged at 23,380 VND/USD (buying), and 23,580 VND/USD (selling).

BIDV added 5 VND to both rates, listing the buying rate at 23,395 VND/USD and the selling rate at 23,575 VND/USD, both up 15 VND from April 24.

During the week from April 20-24, the reference exchange rate was adjusted down on Monday but then followed the upward trend towards the end of the week, gaining a total 34 VND.

The rates at commercial banks fluctuated during the week, but ended the week generally higher by 50-60 VND per USD./.
