An Giang (VNA) – Authorities of Phu Quoc special zone in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang are coordinating with relevant forces to search for and rescue victims after a tourist canoe carrying more than 30 people capsized off Phu Quoc Island on July 11 afternoon.

According to the local authorities, the canoe operated by Ocean Pearl Island Company was transporting 32 Indian tourists and three crew members, including one captain, one mechanic, and one staff member, capsized while en route from May Rut Ngoai Island to An Thoi Port amid strong wave and wind condition. As a result, by 15:00 on July 11, the accident had claimed 15 lives.

Police, military and medical personnel and vehicles were quickly deployed to the scene to coordinate with local residents to rescue the victims. Thanks to the timely rescue efforts, more than 20 people have been brought ashore and are receiving intensive medical care.

The local authorities are continuing to mobilise all available resources to search for the remaining missing persons, while relevant agencies have been instructed to investigate the incident and determine its cause./.

Man jailed for smashing Nguyen Dynasty throne armrest

According to the indictment, Tam bought an admission ticket to the citadel around noon on May 24, 2025. Once inside Thai Hoa Palace, he climbed over a protective barrier, sat on the "Nguyen Dynasty Throne", and broke off the front-left armrest before striking the artifact further and shattering the broken section into multiple pieces.

Vietnam handles over 2.39 million traffic violations in H1
