Hanoi (VNA) - A seminar highlighting Vietnam-Cuba relations was held in Hanoi on November 25 to mark the 60th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties (December 2, 1960 - 2020).

In his opening remarks, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA) Duong Trung Y said the seminar will review outcomes and successes in cooperation between the two Parties, Governments, and peoples in politics, economy, and national defence.

The friendship and solidarity between the two sides have been developed by leaders and the peoples, in particular President Ho Chi Minh and Prime Minister Fidel Castro, he noted.

The Vietnam-Cuba traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation have been strengthened in all regards, the official added, noting that the countries have bolstered the exchange of delegations over recent years.

For her part, Cuban Ambassador Lianys Torres Rivera said that Cuba and Vietnam, with a special relationship built on mutual trust, have maintained regular experience sharing on the “doi moi” (renewal) process and updates on socio-economic models.

She spoke highly of the HCMA for nurturing the country’s leaders and playing a significant role in promoting socio-economic growth and the creative application of President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology that built upon Marxism-Leninism.

The academy has also hosted a number of symposiums regarding the impact of the US Government’s policies on economy, trade, and finance for Cuba, the diplomat noted.

Cuba will continue enhancing its cooperation with the HCMA, she added, voicing her hope that Cuban scholars will be able to attend training programmes at the academy in the near future.

Essays on the Vietnam-Cuba friendship were delivered at the seminar, including those on the special friendship between the two Parties and countries and Cuba’s historic achievements over the course of the last 60 years./.
