A meeting was held in Hanoi on March 20, discussing an action plan for the State Audit of Vietnam’s development in the 2012-2015 period.

Attending the event were representatives of the UK Department for International Development (DFID), the World Bank (WB), the European Union (EU), the Asia Development Bank (ADB) and the Canada International Development Agency (CIDA).

According to State Auditor General Dinh Tien Dung, the action plan for the State Audit development strategy until 2020 is divided into two phases, with the first phase running from 2012 to 2015 and the second phase between 2016-2020.

In the first phase, the action plan will focus on improving State audit’s human resources and organisational structure, modernising auditing plans and methods in line with international practices and increasing IT application in auditing and improving the legal framework of the state audit.

Foreign donors spoke highly of the action plan, considering it a promising project that will improve the State Audit of Vietnam’s capacity.

They also pledged to coordinate with other donors to assist Vietnam in implementing the action plan.

A WB representative suggested that the State Audit of Vietnam set up a project management board, pledging that WB will work with other supreme audit agencies in the world to call for their support.-VNA
