Hanoi (VNA) - Sun PhuQuoc Airways (SPA) — a new airline developed and invested by Sun Group — has officially announced a strategic partnership with Amadeus IT Group (Amadeus), one of the world’s leading travel technology companies. This agreement not only lays the foundation for a modern digital infrastructure but also marks a pivotal step in SPA’s global expansion strategy, enabling the airline to access international distribution networks and reach customers worldwide.

According to the memorandum of understanding signed by both parties, Amadeus will support Sun PhuQuoc Airways in two key areas: the implementation of a Passenger Service System (PSS); the development of an integrated sales and customer loyalty ecosystem, aimed at delivering personalized experiences throughout the journey; the advanced operational solutions including SkyWORKS Suite and Revenue Accounting.

With the PSS platform, Sun PhuQuoc Airways will be equipped with core modules including Reservation, Inventory, and Departure Control System (DCS). This system, trusted by hundreds of five-star airlines worldwide, enables the carrier to connect with international distribution networks while optimizing operations and market expansion. It allows Sun PhuQuoc Airways to reach global travelers, maximize revenue potential, and build the foundational infrastructure required to become a truly international airline.

In parallel, Amadeus will assist the airline in developing a comprehensive retailing and loyalty ecosystem, integrating all customer touchpoints throughout the travel experience. This solution will enable Sun PhuQuoc Airways to harness data, personalize offers, and design long-term engagement programs tailored to different customer segments — setting the stage for a new, customer-centric standard of flying that is both agile and modern.

In particular, Sun PhuQuoc Airways will also apply the SkyWORKS solution - an intelligent schedule editor that manages an overall flight schedule creation process. SkyWORKS provides numerous views to evaluate different business scenarios, allowing Sun PhuQuoc Airways to create streamlined flight schedules in a flexible way. In addition, Amadeus' Revenue Accounting platform will be a solution that helps the airline to track passengers’ sales revenue in real time and reconcile data to optimize accounting processes.

With a mission to help Phu Quoc connect with the world, Sun PhuQuoc Airways has chosen Amadeus as a strategic technology partner to rapidly establish international-standard operations, distribution, and customer experience systems.

Amadeus is a global travel technology leader with a mission to improve the travel experience. Present in over 190 countries, Amadeus partners with customers and industry stakeholders worldwide to solve the sector’s greatest challenges and ensure travel has a positive impact on the world. Its Altéa Passenger Service System (PSS) is trusted by many of the world’s top airlines, including Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways, Lufthansa, British Airways, and Air France-KLM. Altéa is also recognized as the industry’s top standard PSS for its powerful multi-channel integration, advanced personalization capabilities, and outstanding operational efficiency.

“The vision of Sun PhuQuoc Airways is to create a resort-in-the-sky flight experience, where every customer’s journey is personalized and seamlessly connected to Sun Group’s world-class service ecosystem. Choosing Amadeus — a technology platform trusted by the world’s leading airlines — is a strategic move that enables us not only to deliver outstanding service, but also to reach a global distribution network and bring international travelers closer to the beauty of Phu Quoc and Vietnam,” Mr. Nguyen Manh Quan, CEO of Sun PhuQuoc Airways.

“We are proud to be a trusted partner of Sun PhuQuoc Airways as it launches this exciting new business. By providing data-driven insights and a modular design approach, we aim to support the airline’s ambitions in delivering high-quality service from day one and to successfully expand its reach into a successful future in the travel space” says Javier Laforgue, Executive Vice President, Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Amadeus.

This partnership comes at a time when Phu Quoc is rapidly positioning itself as a premier international leisure destination — and when the aviation and tourism sector across Asia is undergoing dynamic growth.

In the first 7 months of 2025, Phu Quoc welcomed more than 5.2 million visitors, up 31.8% over the same period. Of which, international visitors reached nearly 980,000, up sharply by 74.1%. Tourism revenue in the whole area reached VND 24,866 billion, up 93.6%.

Phu Quoc is also gaining growing attention from global media, as Vietnam’s newest special economic zone accelerates preparations to host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum in 2027. In this landscape, the launch of an airline from Phu Quoc — with services built on world-class digital infrastructure — promises to enhance the visitor journey and leave a lasting impression from the moment travelers begin searching for flights to what Travel & Leisure has named the “second most beautiful island in the world after the Maldives.”

Alongside Phu Quoc’s outstanding tourism growth, Vietnam welcomed over 7.7 million international arrivals in the first four months of 2025 — up 23% year-on-year. According to Amadeus’ 2025 Travel Trends report, Asia accounts for 35% of global tourism spending and is expected to see a 50% increase in air passengers over the next 15 years. With its strong technology foundation and sustainable development strategy, the partnership between Sun PhuQuoc Airways and Amadeus is expected to set a new benchmark for luxury leisure aviation — where every flight is a seamless, world-class experience from sky to shore.

Sun PhuQuoc Airways is currently building a spoke-and-hub network with Phu Quoc as the central hub, connecting directly to major cities in Vietnam and beyond. As it prepares to launch commercial operations by the end of 2025, the airline is finalizing all critical systems — from its modern aircraft fleet and distinctive brand identity to advanced operational technology platforms./.
