Thai Nguyen (VNA) - Nearly 200 maps, photos, documents and objects on Hoang Sa (Paracel)and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos are being displayed at an exhibitionopened in Dai Tu district in the northern province of Thai Nguyen on July 23.
Notably, on display are photos of important documents and maps proving thelegality of Vietnam’s sovereignty over the archipelagos.
They include a royal ordinance of the Nguyen Dynasty in 1834,a royal document relating to Quang Ngai’s envoy Dang Duc Thiem asking for taxreduction for ships serving the mission in Hoang Sa in 1838, and an old map publishedby the Qing dynasty of China in 1904.
Photosexhibited at the event also reflect the daily life of Vietnam’s soldiers andpeople in the archipelagos.
Theevent aims to affirm Vietnam’s sovereignty over the two archipelagos and refuteallegations distorting history and groundless claims for the islands and othermarine areas.
