Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - TCEB has announced the success of Thailand in being recognised as a hub of ASEAN MICE through venue standards.

Dr Atchaka Sibunruang, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau or TCEB, presided over the Thailand MICE Venue Standards and ASEAN MICE Venue Standards Awards ceremony at a MICE standards day event.

On MICE standards day 2019, 156 venue operators were awarded certificates of the Thailand MICE venue standards. TCEB highlights Thailand as the first country in ASEAN to initiate Thailand MICE venue standards (TMVS) as a mechanism to support the growth of Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions or the MICE industry.

Following the execution of TMVS, Thailand has been urging the development of ASEAN MICE venue standards (AMVS) using TMVS as a model. 20 venue operators were awarded certificates of AMVS in this year.

The MICE venue standards scheme has been achieving new levels of success every year since its implementation in 2014, said TCEB vice president Supawan Teerarat.

Mrs Supawan also said that TCEB aims to position Thailand as Asia’s MICE business hub that maintains international standards focusing more on mega events such as art & culture, mass participation and innovation. – NNT/VNA
