Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Thailand is hosting the latest ASEAN training course on regional disaster assessment and mitigation to ensure timely assistance and enhance the capability of the region’s relief efforts.

The Embassy of Australia chaired the opening of the ASEAN disaster assessment and mitigation training course, which is held by the ASEAN Centre of Military Medicine from October 16-18.

Regional humanitarian and health professionals will be assessing the impact on health care capabilities during times of emergency and establishing priorities in the event of a sudden crisis.

Thailand has been chosen to host a coordination centre for regional cooperation. This opportunity will allow the country to demonstrate its readiness to raise standards of medical care in various scenarios and support regional efforts in maritime security, peacekeeping, anti-terrorism, and humanitarian assistance.-NNT/VNA
