Thailand, Myanmar boost border trade
Thailand's Vice Minister for Commerce, Dr. Sakon Varanyuwatana, has said the Thailand-Myanmar Border Economic Partnership Conference will boost border trade and relations between the two countries.

Partnership Conference will boost border trade and relations between the two
countries.
The conference was held near Thailand's Ban Nam Pu Ron and Myanmar's Htee Kee border checkpoints, aiming at increasing trade activities in border areas by promoting border development and cooperation between Thailand and Myanmar.
In attendance were Dr. Lei Lei Maw, Chief Minister of Myanmar's Taninthargyi Region, as well as representatives from public and private organizations in Kanchanaburi province. Small meetings on public-private cooperation, business matching and agreement-signing ceremonies were also held on the sidelines of the event.
Dr. Lei Lei Maw said Myanmar’s economy is experiencing rapid growth and, therefore, the country must import construction materials, household commodities and industrial chemicals to accommodate rising domestic demand.
He invited Thai businesses to build more hotels, factories and mines to accommodate the potential growth on the border, especially once road construction, connecting Dawei Port and Ban Nam Pu Ron Checkpoint, is completed. He also expects more investment and travel by citizens of both countries in the near future.-NNT/VNA
