Under the current examination format, candidates are required to complete the mandatory Literature and Mathematics tests, along with a combined test comprising two subjects selected from a range of options, including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, Foreign Languages, History, Geography, Technology-Industry, Technology-Agriculture, and Economics-Law. Students may also choose to take a foreign language different from the one studied at school.

Party General Secretary and State President To Lam on June 5 met with Eric Schmidt, former Chairman and CEO of Google, and a delegation of artificial intelligence (AI) experts visiting Vietnam.

The institutions covered by the scheme are the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), University of Medicine and Pharmacy Ho Chi Minh City (UMP), Vietnamese-German University (VGU) and Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM).

Addressing the forum, Chairman of the Gia Lai People’s Committee Pham Anh Tuan said the hosting of the forum offers the local education sector an opportunity to exchange experiences, access advanced educational methods, and expand ties with international partners within the Francophone community, as well as with reputable educational and research organisations.

Deputy PM Le Tien Chau called on RMIT to broaden enrollment and develop new courses in priority fields, including artificial intelligence, data science, semiconductors, renewable energy, and digital economy, while expanding scholarships and student exchanges to improve Vietnamese students’ access to quality international education.

A key target under the new plan is the establishment of five digital technology incubators, or Deeptech Hubs, at universities and research institutes with strong potential. The education ministry also plans to launch a training programme for 1,000 outstanding technology entrepreneurs and develop criteria for selecting and supporting startup ecosystems within educational institutions.

Once issued, the circular is expected to provide a key legal basis for promoting responsible technology adoption, advancing digital transformation and AI in higher education, while strengthening quality assurance, data protection and academic integrity in the digital era.

The education ministry demanded a complete review of existing curricula, covering goals, learning outcomes, structure, content, teaching and assessment methods, and how emerging technologies like AI, semiconductors, automation, data science, and cybersecurity are embedded.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung on April 25 held separate working sessions with the Ministries of Culture, Sports and Tourism and of Education and Training, reviewing progress, addressing bottlenecks, and outlining strategic reforms to strengthen human capital, cultural development and tourism as key drivers of sustainable, productivity-led growth.

PM Hung emphasised that the education and training sector carries an extensive and demanding workload, and has been consistently identified by the Party and the State as a top national priority, receiving special attention from the Politburo as well as Party General Secretary and State President To Lam.

Party General Secretary To Lam has issued Conclusion 18 on the outcomes of the second meeting of the 14th Party Central Committee, outlining key directions for the 2026–2030 socio-economic development plan towards double-digit growth. The Party Central Committee calls for the continued, resolute and effective implementation of resolutions and conclusions, with a focus on key tasks, particularly modernising the national education system, improving training quality, and attracting and utilising talent.
