Mexico City (VNA) – Doctor Romulo Velero, a respected left-wing intellectual in Venezuela, has viewed the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) as a logical and necessary step in the development of a genuine revolutionary party, while stressing the importance of continuity, noting Vietnam’s steadfast adherence to its chosen path, respect for history, and constant innovation in development approaches.
As a Venezuelan communist who once visited Vietnam, met late President Ho Chi Minh and late General Hoang Van Thai, and lived among ordinary yet resilient Vietnamese people, Velero said he has long placed his trust in the path chosen by the CPV.
According to him, Vietnam’s victories in both war and peace stem not only from courage, but above all from the Party’s sound leadership and its ability to closely align political will with revolutionary practice at each historical stage.
He was also deeply impressed by the close bond between the Party and the people, which, he said, was forged through sacrifice and tangible achievements, and constitutes the solid social foundation of Vietnam’s enduring revolutionary vitality.
Velero affirmed that Vietnam offers an important lesson in maintaining independence in thinking, policy autonomy, and an inseparable bond with the people. These foundations, he noted, have enabled Vietnam to move forward, develop, and renew itself in a world full of uncertainties and changes.
The Venezuelan intellectual also expressed his belief that, with roots deeply embedded in the nation and a revolutionary tradition proven by history, the Communist Party of Vietnam will continue to lead the country steadily toward the future, for independence, development, and the happiness of the people./.
