A Vietnam-Argentina trade exchange was held in   Ho Chi Minh City   on October 29 with the aim of increasing trade activities and creating opportunities for the two countries’ businesses.    

The event was part of a visit of a business delegation from Argentina.   

Argentinean Domestic Trade Secretary Guillermo Moreno said the 150 businesses attending the event are leading producers and exporters in food and beverages, garment and footwear materials, chemistry, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, machinery, electric appliances, construction materials and services in his country.       

Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Planning and Investment Department Thai Van Re introduced to the potential investors the fields that the city is calling for investment, including finance, banking, trade and distribution, tourism, health care, education and training, electronics, information technology, and chemistry.     

He also provided them with information on preferential policies and measures to support the two countries’ trade and investment cooperation.   

Vietnam is Argentina's 47th exporter.    

Two-way trade between Argentina and Vietnam hit a record 971.7 million USD last year, a year-on-year rise of 17 percent. The figure was 168 million USD in the first three months of the year, a year-on-year rise of 12.6 percent.

 Last year, Vietnam exported to Argentina footwear, rubber and rubber products, garment and textile products, machines and mechanical and electronic equipments while importing soybeans, animal fat and plant oil, cereals and fuels from the Latin American country.-VNA
