Vietnam News Agency helps AO victims

The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin (VAVA) on May 20 signed an agreement on communication cooperation from 2013-2016.
The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and the Vietnam Association for Victims ofAgent Orange/dioxin (VAVA) on May 20 signed an agreement oncommunication cooperation from 2013-2016, marking a new phase in therelationship towards the common goal of easing Vietnamese AO/dioxinvictims’ pain.

Accordingly, the agreement aims to enhance publicawareness about the AO disaster, call for social resources to take careof AO/dioxin victims and support the victims’ fight for justice.

Attending the signing ceremony, Nguyen Thi Binh, former Vice StatePresident and VAVA’s Honorary President, stressed the prolonged andunpredictable impacts of AO/dioxin. She said the cooperation between VNAand VAVA will help Vietnamese and foreigners understand and sympathisewith AO victims and their families.

Nguyen Duc Loi, the VNA’sGeneral Director, said that the state news agency has cooperated withvarious domestic and international organisations to help AO victimsfight for justice.

The information published by the organisationhelps connect sympathetic people in implementing activities to supportthe victims nationwide, added Loi.

VNA founded a fund forAO/dioxin victims in September 2006. To date, the fund has donated 4.2billion VND to nearly 3,100 AO/dioxin victims in all 63 cities andprovinces in the country.

The state-run Vietnam News Agency,founded in 1945, has a network of reporters in all cities and provincesin Vietnam and 30 foreign countries in five continents, and publishesmore than 40 products.-VNA
