Lao Cai (VNA) – The 25th Vietnam–China International Trade Fair opened on November 20 in the northern province of Lao Cai, highlighting the theme “Lao Cai and Yunnan – Connectivity and Development.”

The event is jointly organised by the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Lao Cai provincial People’s Committee, and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) branches in Yunnan province and Honghe county.

Held alternately each year between Lao Cai (Vietnam) and Yunnan (China), the fair is a key activity under Vietnam’s national trade promotion programme, serving as an important platform for economic exchange between the two sides.

Opening the event, Vice Chairman of the Lao Cai People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Sinh, who is head of the organising board, said the fair has grown significantly in scale and quality after its 24 previous editions. It has become a reputable brand and an essential channel for trade and import–export cooperation between the two markets.

Thousands of economic contracts have been signed through the annual fair, contributing to strong growth in trade value through Lao Cai border gates and reinforcing the province’s role as Vietnam’s strategic gateway to Southwest China. The event has also stepped up cultural exchanges and trust among businesses and communities of both sides, he added./.
