Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam has named a 23-man squad for FIFA Days in March with a mix of experienced players and several new or returning faces as the team prepares for key international matches.
According to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the latest call-up brings together established players while also marking the return of key figures sidelined by injury in recent times.
Among the familiar names are goalkeepers Dang Van Lam and Nguyen Filip; defenders Do Duy Manh, Xuan Manh and Van Vi; midfielders Hoang Duc and Quang Hai; and forwards Tuan Hai and Xuan Son. These players have been central to the national team’s core in recent years.
Notably, defenders Doan Van Hau and Tran Dinh Trong have been recalled after long injury layoffs. Van Hau last played for Vietnam in June 2023 in a friendship match against Syria, while Dinh Trong has been absent since September 2022. This marks their first call-up under head coach Kim Sang-sik.
Dinh Trong’s return comes at a timely moment, as he has been in consistent form for Hanoi Police FC, regularly featuring as a reliable presence in defence. Meanwhile, Van Hau has made an impressive comeback, registering one goal and one assist in his last four matches, indicating a professional readiness and a strong return to fitness.
Alongside naturalised players who have already cemented their roles such as Nguyen Xuan Son and Cao Pendant Quang Vinh, the latest squad also features a first-time call-up for midfielder Do Hoang Hen (Hendrio Araujo), who officially became a Vietnamese citizen in October 2025. He is highly regarded for his technical ability, creativity, and combination play.
The squad continues to give opportunities to promising young players, including goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien, defender Nguyen Nhat Minh, and midfielder Khuat Van Khang.
As scheduled, the team will gather in Hanoi from March 21, with players involved in domestic competitions joining later. During this FIFA Days, Vietnam will host Bangladesh in an international friendship match at Hang Day Stadium in Hanoi on March 26, before travelling to Ninh Binh for a clash against Malaysia on March 31 at Thien Truong Stadium in the final round of qualifiers for the AFC Asian Cup 2027./.
