Vinh Long (VNA) – The Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long saw its industrial production index rise of 10 percent in the first quarter compared to the same period last year.

Production value of local major industries producing footwear and animal feed grew 34.45 and 21.45 percent, respectively. Shipbuilding production value in the first quarter more than doubled compared to last year.

The Hoa Phu, Binh Minh and Co Chien industrial parks attracted 38 projects worth over 288 million USD.

The growth was a result of a series of moves by local enterprises to cut costs as well as improve quality.

The provincial Department of Industry and Trade has continued programmes to support companies in vocational training, trade promotion, technology transfer and updates on market information.

It also worked with Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho City to expand the local market.-VNA
