Businesses from the Republic of Korea (RoK) not only want to increase trade promotion and export-import activities, but also develop trademarks and relations with Vietnamese partners.

The General Director of Korea Industrial Complex Corporation Chae Byeong Yong made this statement at an exchange seminar between Vietnamese and RoK businesses held in HCM City on May 9.

Yong said most of the visiting RoK firms operate in industrial machinery, information technology, electronics, semi-conductor production, solar energy, foodstuffs, fashion and cosmetics.

Nguyen Doan Thong, representative of the event organiser Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry in HCM City asked the two countries’ businesses to share information on products and market prices to seek customers and strategic partners.

In the recent two years, the RoK has surpassed Japan to become Vietnam ’s second largest supplier with main commodities such as garment materials, leather and footwear, machinery, equipment, spare parts and plastics.

The RoK is also Vietnam ’s fourth largest importer, with key products like farm produce and footwear worth nearly 4 percent of Vietnam ’s total annual exports.-VNA
