Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang has expressed his wish that Belgium will provide more overseas development assistance (ODA) for road, aviation, railway and logistical services projects in Vietnam.

At a working session with visiting Crown Prince Philippe and businesses of Belgium in Hanoi on March 13, Minister Thang suggested the Belgian side continue training high-quality human resources for Vietnam’s transport sector.

The minister spoke highly of the Belgian Government’s assistance and Belgian businesses’ involvement in developing transport infrastructure in Vietnam, especially seaports and seaport services.

He said as Belgium boasts a strong sea-based economy and a favourable position in Europe, Belgian businesses are capable of directly participating in seaport infrastructure development projects in Vietnam.

They can also provide Vietnamese partners with technology and experience in seaport building and management, as well as logistical service development, he said.

Prince Philippe said Belgium is a favoured gateway for Vietnam to enter Europe . He affirmed that Belgium will help Vietnam develop transport infrastructure, especially the building of express railway routes.-VNA
