Hanoi (VNA) - On the morning of August 12, 5,000 yoga practitioners gathered at Hanoi's My Dinh National Stadium, setting a new record in Vietnam: a yoga performance with the highest number of participants.

This extraordinary event was organized for the first time by Dan Tri newspaper and officially confirmed as a new record by the Vietnam Records Organization (Vietkings).

A remarkable highlight of the event was the moment when 5,000 yoga enthusiasts came together to form a gigantic national flag using red and yellow fabric.

As one of the event's distinguished guests, Indian Ambassador to Vietnam, Sandeep Arya, affirmed the core essence of yoga—a discipline born and spread worldwide from his homeland.

In his remarks, he connected the spirit of yoga with a spirit that is close, familiar, and deeply meaningful to the people of Vietnam—President Ho Chi Minh's call for exercise, physical fitness, and health improvement.

According to the diplomat, Yoga is an ancient and special practice, originating from a Sanskrit word that means the unity of the body, mind, and awareness with the surrounding environment in a conscious and complete manner, thereby becoming a source of positive energy for the world.

He said the spirit of yoga aligns with the fervent belief of President Ho Chi Minh in health and the role of individual physical training in building a robust nation.

This year, the Indian government adopted the theme "One World, One Health" for International Day of Yoga, inspired by an ancient Indian saying that the world is one family.

Many notable figures graced the event, including actress Quach Thu Phuong, beauty queens, and runner-ups such as Ngoc Han, Lona Kiều Loan, Phương Nhi, all of whom immersed themselves in the serene atmosphere and performed familiar yoga poses.

This large-scale event also served as an opportunity for each participant to become more conscious of protecting their own health, as well as that of their families and communities, through yoga and other forms of physical fitness./.
