Dak Lak (VNA) – The 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival, set for March 9-13, promises an exciting lineup of 17 key events celebrating Vietnam’s coffee culture and industry, organisers announced at a press conference in Buon Ma Thuot city, the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak, on February 26.

Under the theme “Buon Ma Thuot – Destination of World Coffee,” this year’s festival will feature a digital content creation contest to promote the event online. It will also include an exhibition of coffee and OCOP products, a specialty coffee roasting competition, and an international trade and business conference aimed at positioning Vietnamese coffee on the global stage.

Other highlights include a street festival, a coffee camp, free coffee tastings, and the groundbreaking ceremony for Trung Nguyen Legend’s energy coffee factory. Traditional cultural events such as the Buon Don Elephant Festival, alongside tourism promotion activities, will also be part of the celebration.

Notably, the festival’s grand opening on March 10 will feature a dazzling 15-minute fireworks display. Another standout event will be the Light Festival on March 12, where 500 drones will create a spectacular light show in the night sky, marking a festival first.

The festival serves as a prime opportunity for business leaders, policymakers, and international partners to connect, strengthen trade ties, and attract investment. It also offers a platform to showcase the rich coffee culture, people, and economic potential of Dak Lak, reinforcing its image as a dynamic, hospitable, and investor-friendly destination.

As Vietnam’s coffee capital, Dak Lak boasts over 210,000ha of coffee plantations, yielding more than 520,000 tonnes annually, over 30% of the country’s total output. With a history spanning more than a century, Buon Ma Thuot coffee is now enjoyed in over 100 countries and territories, reinforcing the global presence of Vietnamese Robusta coffee./.
