Addressing the event, Tatarinov A.A, Director of the Third AsiaDepartment under Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), said theestablishment of Vietnam-Russia diplomatic ties 65 years ago has markedan important milestone in history of the two countries, opening a newpage in the bilateral relations.
Russia was among the firstnations to recognise the independence and sovereignty of Vietnam whichhad greatly enhanced the Asian country’s position in the internationalarena and affirmed its role in the global relationship, he recalled.
The two countries’ relations have been growing over the years,reflected by a number of the pair’s major collaborative projects, likeHoa Binh Hydropower Plant and Vietsopetro, a Russian-Vietnamese Oil andGas Joint Venture.
He also highly spoke of Vietnam as astrategic comprehensive partner of Russia in the Asia-Pacific region whosupports Russia’s voice in regional and international issues.

in mind the immense and wholehearted assistance offered by formerSoviet Union and Russia today.
Vietnam wishes to furtherbolster the collaboration with the partner, fueling the development ofthe pair’s diplomatic ties and economic cooperation, he said.
Meanwhile, in Hanoi, the Russian Embassy, the Vietnam-Russia FriendshipAssociation, and the Ho Chi Minh Museum jointly organised an exhibitionfeaturing the time-honoured relationship between the two countries onJanuary 29.
More than 120 photos, materials and objects aredisplayed in two components, with the one depicting the relationsbetween Vietnam and former Soviet Union and activities of Nguyen Ai Quoc(late President Ho Chi Minh) in the Soviet Union and the other focusingon the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Russia today.
The exhibition will run until February 6.-VNA
