- Party General Secretary To Lam, accompanied by his spouse and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, attended the inauguration of the Laos–Vietnam Friendship Park in Vientiane on December 2, as part of their ongoing state visit to Laos.

In his speech, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung hailed the event’s significance, saying that it marks a new milestone in the relations between the two Parties and States, reinforces the special bond, deep trust, and heartfelt solidarity between fraternal Vietnamese and Lao people. - Brunei Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah departed Hanoi on December 2, concluding his three-day state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of State President Luong Cuong.

- All six students representing Vietnam at the 22nd International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO 2025) in Russia have won medals, securing three silvers and three bronzes, according to Hanoi’s Department of Education and Training.

All the students are from Hanoi–Amsterdam High School for the Gifted. The three silver medallists are Do Bao Trang, Hoang Khoi Nguyen and Tran Ngoc Hung, while the bronze medals went to Nguyen Dong Quan, Trinh Nguyen Hung and Do Manh Hung. Read full story

- The Republic of Korea Navy’s training ship ROKS Hansando, carrying 375 officers and sailors and led by Rear Admiral Hong Sang Yong, arrived at Tien Sa Port on December 2 for a four-day friendly visit to Da Nang city.

Representatives from the Da Nang Department of Foreign Affairs, the Naval Region 3 Command, the Coast Guard Region 2 Command, the municipal Military Command, Border Guard Command, and Port Border Guard, Military Region 5’s External Relations Office, the Ministry of National Defence’s Department of Foreign Relations, and the Vietnam People’s Navy attended the welcome ceremony. - Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang and Cuban Vice Minister of International Trade and Foreign Investment Deborah Rivas Saavedra set a target to lift two-way trade to 500 million USD soon as they co-chaired the first session of the Joint Committee of the Vietnam - Cuba Trade Agreement in Havana on December 1.

The meeting launched the first formal periodic mechanism for both nations to monitor the 2020 bilateral trade agreement, remove bottlenecks, and identify priority areas for effective rollout. It was expected to advance economic, trade, and investment ties as the two nations mark their 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties this year. Read full story

- The Vietnamese Embassy in France on December 1 held a fundraising ceremony in support of residents in central and Central Highlands provinces which have suffered severe losses from storms and prolonged flooding since early November.

Addressing the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang conveyed the November 13 call from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee urging the Vietnamese community at home and abroad to uphold the nation’s tradition of solidarity and mutual support. He noted that the successive storms and floods have inflicted heavy damage on central and Central Highlands localities at a time when the country is striving to recover and sustain socio-economic development, placing additional burdens on local authorities and residents. - Vietnam on December 1 kicked off a month-long series of New Year 2026 celebrations at the National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Hanoi’s suburban Doai Phuong commune, drawing more than 100 ethnic minorities nationwide.

Ho Chi Minh City, EU boast ample room for sustainable development cooperation

Since the establishment of their diplomatic ties in 1990, Vietnam and the EU have deepened the bilateral ties into one of the bloc’s most dynamic and in-depth partnerships with an ASEAN member, Ha noted, adding that the relationship entered a new chapter in January when the President of European Council’s visit upgraded it to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
