- Innovation must be spread and deeply embedded across social life, in State-owned economic sectors and in the creation of institutions ensuring fairness, protecting intellectual property and promoting digital infrastructure investment, paving the way for breakthroughs that bring new value or resolve longstanding issues.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has instructed the Ministry of Finance (MoF), the Ministry of Home Affairs, and provincial-level authorities to urgently resolve outstanding obstacles in the implementation of the two-tier local government model.
According to Official Dispatch No. 180/CD-TTg, released on September 30, while ministries, agencies, and localities have actively advanced the model implementation, persistent issues remain. These include the need to rearrange more than 16,000 public housing and land facilities; 299 commune-level administrations without cars; 18 communes yet to open accounts at the State Treasury; 32 communes yet to pay August 2025 salaries; many lacking chief accountants; and nearly 40,000 individuals still awaiting financial support as mandated. - Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations (UN) Ambassador Do Hung Viet, in his capacity as President of the 2026 Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), has urged the international community to take drastic actions to completely eliminate nuclear weapons.
Speaking at the UN General Assembly’s recent high-level meeting to commemorate and promote the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons, Viet called on all countries to cooperate in strengthening global disarmament and non-proliferation institutions, and demonstrate the highest level of responsibility and political will to help reduce and ultimately eliminate this type of weapons of mass destruction. - A high-ranking delegation of the National Assembly led by Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Hai paid an official visit to Türkiye from September 25 to 29, aiming to further deepen the friendship and wide-ranging cooperation between the two countries.
During the talks with Deputy Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Celal Adan, Hai expressed his delight at paying his first visit to Türkiye, thanking the Turkish parliament for its warm reception. Read full story
- Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man and President of the National Assembly of People’s Power and President of the Council of State of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernandez co-chaired the second session of the Vietnam – Cuba Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee in Hanoi on October 1.
Opening the event, Chairman Man underlined that over the past 65 years, the Vietnam – Cuba relationship has continuously grown stronger, becoming a model of pure, faithful, and close-knit international solidarity. - General Director of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) Vu Viet Trang hosted a reception in Hanoi on October 1 for a delegation from Russia’s St. Petersburg administration led by Grigoriev Evghnhi Dmitrievic, Chairman of the city's Committee for External Relations.
Trang welcomed the delegation, who are in Vietnam for the first Vietnam–Russia People’s Forum and other activities, highlighting the significance of this trip amid the ongoing celebrations of the 75th anniversary of Vietnam-Russia diplomatic relations, marked by frequent high-level visits and exchanges. - Widespread rain and thunderstorms are forecast across Vietnam on October 1, with authorities warning of high risks of flash floods, landslides and flooding in low-lying areas.
According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours has pushed water levels up on major rivers in the north and north-central regions. While floods on the Thao and Ma rivers are receding, water levels on the Lo, Cau, Thuong and Thai Binh rivers continue to rise, with some expected to reach or exceed alarm level 3. In Nghe An, floodwater on the Ca River are forecast to peak below level 3 before receding. Read full story
