- To realise the country's two centenary goals, successfully implement the resolution of the coming 14th National Party Congress, secure a peaceful and stable environment for fast and sustainable socio-economic development, and ensure prosperity and happiness for the people, the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) must be the core force in performing those duties, said Party General Secretary To Lam.
Addressing the 12th Party Congress of the VPA, the 2025–2030 tenure, in Hanoi on September 30, the Party leader noted that in such a context sets new and higher requirements for military and defence tasks, requesting appropriate policies and strategies to adapt to. Read full story
- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has signed an official dispatch, calling for immediate relief operations to help people overcome the devastation brought by Typhoon Bualoi and subsequent floods.
The typhoon made landfall with maximum sustained winds reaching Levels 10–11, with gusts up to Levels 13–14, unleashing destruction across a vast swath of north-central and northern Vietnam. Read full story
- Politburo member and State President Luong Cuong urged Phu Tho authorities to work toward prosperous and civilised development during his attendance at the first congress of the provincial Party Organisation for the 2025–2030 tenure, which opened on September 30.
The State leader requested the provincial Party Organisation to uphold solidarity and consensus in both awareness and action, while continuing to lead and direct the building of a clean and strong Party and political system in terms of politics, ideology, organisation, ethics, and personnel. - President of the National Assembly of People's Power and President of the Council of State of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernandez arrived in Hanoi on September 30 morning, beginning his official visit to the Southeast Asian country.

- Vietnam always attaches great importance to its Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Russia, considering it one of the top priorities in its foreign policy, affirmed Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha.
In his opening remarks at the September 30 ceremony to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Russia and to inaugurate the Vietnam – Russia People’s Forum, the Deputy PM emphasised that Vietnam will forever remember and treasure the wholehearted support that the former Soviet Union and today’s Russian Federation have extended to the Vietnamese people during their struggle for national independence, as well as in national construction and defence at present. - The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) on September 30 announced that Da Nang, Phu Bai, Dong Hoi, and Tho Xuan airports have reopened though one flight was still forced to divert due to Typhoon Bualoi, the 10th to appear in the East Sea this year.
According to the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM), the storm directly affected flight operations in both the Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh flight information regions (FIRs) from September 26 to 29. Read full story
- A global network for Vietnamese language and cultural teaching was launched in Fukuoka prefecture, Japan, on September 29 in the face of a growing need for upholding the traditional culture among the over 6 million overseas Vietnamese across over 130 countries and territories.
Initiated by Vietnam’s Consulate General in Fukuoka, the network aims to create a common platform for teachers, students, their parents, and those interested in Vietnamese language education worldwide. Read full story
- The US’s decision to impose high tariffs on a range of Vietnamese exports, including wood products and furniture, is pushing the country’s timber industry to swiftly recalibrate its strategies to sustain growth.
The Handicraft and Wood Industry Association of Ho Chi Minh City (HAWA) reported that on September 25, US President Donald Trump announced tariffs of up to 50% on kitchen cabinets, bathroom cabinets, and selected furniture products, effective October 1. Given the US remains Vietnam’s largest export market for wood and furniture, this measure presents a significant challenge.
