- State President Luong Cuong’s attendance at the High-level General Debate of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80) and his bilateral activities in the US from September 21–24 have been hailed by international experts and media as an important milestone, demonstrating Vietnam’s growing role on the international arena.
In an in-depth analysis of the President’s speech at the UN, The Washington Times highlighted Vietnam’s increasingly prominent role as a “responsible and forward-looking” nation. Vietnam’s “flexible yet steadfast” foreign policy has been highly evaluated, as it demonstrates the country’s ability to adapt while firmly upholding the fundamental principles of the UN Charter and international law. - Vice Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Duc Hai’s upcoming official visit to Greece is crucial in reinforcing political trust between Vietnam and Greece, and demonstrates both sides' commitment to strengthening the bilateral ties, especially through the parliamentary channel, according to Vietnamese Ambassador to Greece Pham Thi Thu Huong.
The ambassador noted that the visit, lasting from September 30 to October 3, is to take place at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations. It also aims to implement recent high-level agreements, most notably the meeting between Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Greek counterpart Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the third UN Ocean Conference in June 2025. - The merger of provinces and cities, along with the operation of two-tier local administration system since July 1, has produced significant results, demonstrating that the Party’s and State’s dicision are on the right track, with ministries, sectors, and local authorities implementing it seriously and the public enthusiastically supporting.
According to Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra, most initial obstacles in operating the two-tier local government, such as overlaps in decentralisation, incidents in IT systems, and complexity in personnel arrangements, have been largely resolved. The delegation of authority for handling administrative procedures has been strengthened, with the central level now responsible for 44% of tasks and local authorities for 56%. Read full story
- Vietnam’s crypto market value topped 220 billion USD, placing the country third in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

- Vietnam’s state budget revenue in the first nine months of the year is estimated at over 1.88 quadrillion VND (71.2 billion USD), equal to 96% of the annual target and up 27.9% year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Finance (MoF).

- About 1.6 million pigs will be supplied annually to Ho Chi Minh City and southern provinces from 2027 under Vietnam’s first high-rise livestock project, aiming to strengthen domestic production and reduce pork imports.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has issued an official dispatch, urging ministries, sectors, and local authorities to ramp up recovery efforts following Typhoon Bualoi, which battered Vietnam’s central region and triggered torrential rain and widespread flooding.
According to a report from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, as of 12:00 on September 29, the typhoon left 11 people dead, 13 missing, eight others out of contact, and 33 injured. Thousands of homes and production facilities were damaged. Read full story
