– The first congress of the National Assembly (NA) Party Organisation for the 2025–2030 tenure opened in Hanoi on September 25 with the participation of 297 delegates representing more than 2,800 Party members across the organisation.
The event saw the presence of Party General Secretary To Lam, former Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, Secretary of the Government’s Party Committee and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Secretary of the NA’s Party Committee and NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man, along with former NA Chairpersons Nguyen Van An, Nguyen Sinh Hung, and Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan. – To jointly overcome the challenges of climate change, countries must fully and promptly deliver on their climate finance commitments, particularly resources for a just transition linked with ensuring social security, creating jobs, and supporting workers and vulnerable communities, said Vietnamese President Luong Cuong at the Special High-Level Event on Climate Action in New York on September 24 (local time).
To help developing countries narrow the gap, the President called on the international community to strongly and more substantively step up the transfer of advanced, clean, and efficient technologies serving green and circular economy development. Read full story
– President of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80) Annalena Baerbock has appreciated Vietnam’s active and dynamic role, rising stature, and growing contributions in UN bodies and forums, including the General Assembly, especially in the context of many challenges facing the world and the UN.
She made the statement at her meeting on September 24 (New York time) with Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, who is in New York to attend the High-Level General Debate of UNGA 80, and conduct bilateral meetings. Read full story
– President Luong Cuong received US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in New York on September 24 morning (local time), on the sidelines of the High-level General Debate of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
He stated that Vietnam always views the US as a partner of strategic importance and wishes to join hands with the US to continue implementing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in an increasingly substantive manner, with respect for each other’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and political regimes, for shared peace, stability, and prosperity. – Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Le Hoai Trung and Tuvaluan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Labour, and Trade Paulson Panapa signed a joint communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries on September 24 (US time).
With the signing of this joint communiqué, Vietnam has become one of the few countries in the world to establish diplomatic ties with all 193 UN member states. Read full story
– As part of her visit to Oman, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang and her Omani counterpart Khalifa Bin Ali Al Harthy on September 24 co-chaired the 4th Vietnam – Oman political consultation.
In an open and constructive atmosphere, the two sides reviewed progress since the previous consultation, discussed ways to deepen the bilateral ties, and explored opportunities to elevate Vietnam – Oman relations to a new stage of development. Read full story
– Vietnam and the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on intellectual property (IP) cooperation in Hanoi on September 25, as part of WIPO Director General Daren Tang’s visit to the country.
The MoU, signed at the headquarters of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) between Daren Tang and Luu Hoang Long, Director of the MOST’s Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam, sets out a comprehensive framework for IP cooperation. It covers a wide range of areas from policy and legislative development to raising awareness, training human resources, supporting enterprises, and strengthening the capacity of Vietnam’s IP authority.
