Hanoi (VNA) – The following is a list of selected news summaries reported last night by the Vietnam News Agency.

– The Vietnamese army must evolve into a force that is not only “regular, elite, and modern” but also “agile, flexible, and digitally savvy”, Party General Secretary To Lam said at the 11th military emulation congress in Hanoi on September 24.

The event, co-hosted by the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defence, reviewed five years of achievements during the 2020-2025 period and set priorities for the next half decade. Read full story

– Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has ordered all ministries, agencies and localities to complete their own data systems in 2025, ensuring they are accurate, comprehensive, clean, live, seamless and connected from the central to local levels.

Addressing the fourth online meeting of the Government’s Steering Committee for Science, Technology, Innovation, Digital Transformation and Project 06 on September 24, PM Chinh, who is head of the committee, demanded acceleration and breakthroughs; proactive, effective, timely and concerted action; interoperable systems, secure information, and tangible benefits for citizens. – Vietnamese Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung met the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun on September 23 on the sidelines of the High-Level General Debate of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80) in New York.

The same day, Trung met with his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha, affirming that Vietnam treasures its traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Ukraine. Read full story

– A Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Danh Huy attended the first meeting of Vietnam – China Joint Railway Cooperation Committee in Beijing on September 23–24.

The meeting aimed to implement the common perceptions reached by the two countries’ high-ranking leaders on strengthening cooperation and expediting cross-border railway projects. It also sought to carry out the agreement signed on December 10, 2024, between the two governments on standard-gauge railway cooperation, as well as the memorandum of understanding signed on April 14, 2025, between Vietnam’s Ministry of Construction and China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) on the establishment of the joint committee. NA Chairman attends rehearsal for fourth Dien Hong awards

More than 10 months after the competition’s launch, the organising board received 3,508 entries from 125 media outlets nationwide. After initial screening, 659 works proceeded to preliminary judging, from which a preliminary jury selected 91 entries for the final round. The final jury ultimately selected 64 works for awards.

PM directs tasks to boost economic growth

To fully realise the 2025 socio-economic development plan, while creating momentum for 2026, PM Pham Minh Chinh urged ministers, heads of ministry-level agencies, and chairpersons of People’s Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to strictly follow resolutions of the Party, the National Assembly and the Government, along with the Prime Minister’s directives.
