- The ninth Global Conference of YoungParliamentarians, themed “The Role of Young People in Promoting the Realisationof Sustainable Development Goals via Digital Transformation and Innovations”,opened in Hanoi on September 15.

- Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan had ameeting with Secretary General of South Africa’s ruling party African NationalCongress (ANC) Fikile Mbalula in Johannesburg on September 14, within theframework of her official visit to the country.

Xuan affirmed that Vietnam highly values the roleof the ANC in South Africa, and expressed her impression with the country’sdevelopment achievements under the leadership of the Party. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s two-day tripto China to attend the opening of the China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) and theChina-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS) 2023 in Nanning city,Guangxi province, carries practical meaning, according to VietnameseConsul General in Nanning Do Nam Trung.

In an interview granted to the Vietnam NewsAgency, the diplomat also underlined that this year’s events mark the 20-yearjourney of the CAEXPO and CABIS, an effective cooperation model between ASEANand China that has brought practical benefits to businesses and peoples ofASEAN and China. - Ho Chi Minh City desires to partner with theWorld Economic Forum (WEF) to leverage the outcomes of the HCM City EconomicForum for the development of the southern largest economic hub and Vietnam ingeneral, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Phan Van Mai told WEFManaging Director Jeremy Jurgens.

At a meeting on September 15 with Jurgens, who ison a working trip to attend the HCM City Economic Forum 2023 (HEF 2023),Mai highly appreciated the WEF for signing a joint statement on cooperationwith the municipal People's Committee, creating opportunities for HEF to becomepart of the WEF’s ecosystem. Read full story

- Cuban Commander-in-Chief Fidel CastroRuz’s first visit to Vietnam 50 years ago (September 12, 1973), which made himthe first and only foreign leader to visit the liberated zone in central QuangTri province, was the most vivid and persuasive symbol of Cuba’s solidarity andunconditional support to Vietnam, stated Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Le ThanhTung.

- Vietnam and Algeria signed an agreement on judicialcooperation programme for 2024-2025 period, during a recent two-dayworking visit by Deputy Minister of Justice Nguyen Khanh Ngoc to the NorthAfrican country.

Ngoc said the signing reaffirms desire and determination ofthe two countries' ministries in strengthening legal and judicial collaborationin order to help them well perform theirs functions and tasks, activelycontributing to strengthening the sound friendship between the two countries. Read full story

- The first national forum on the developmentof digital economy and digital society took place in the northern province ofNam Dinh on September 14, discussing orientations and trends to help realisethe country’s relevant targets for 2030 and beyond.

In his opening speech, Minister of Information andCommunications Nguyen Manh Hung said that building a digital economy anddigital society was identified as a strategic focus of Vietnam in the timeahead. Read full story

- An international workshop discussingopportunities to connect and expand markets for Vietnamese exports viacross-border e-commerce partnership with Amazon was jointly held by theMinistry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) and the People’s Committee of Ho Chi MinhCity on September 14.

As part of activities within the framework of theVietnam International Sourcing 2023, the event offered a venue for e-commerceexperts and businesses to discuss and share experiences, helping Vietnameseentrepreneurs and young human resources quickly acquire knowledge and directlyengage in introducing and selling Vietnamese products on global cross-bordere-commerce platforms./. Read full story

Deputy FM highlights parliamentary diplomacy gains from IPU-152, European trips

Top legislators of Vietnam, Türkiye meet on sidelines of IPU-152 in Istanbul

The top Vietnamese legislator expressed his admiration for Türkiye’s cultural identity and its friendly, hospitable people, while highly valuing the European country’s growing role and position at multilateral forums and in regional mediation efforts. Vietnam, China sign 32 cooperation documents

The documents include a cooperation plan between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Communist Party of China (CPC) for the 2026–2030 period; a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Organisation Commission of the CPV Central Committee and its Chinese counterpart; and a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee.

Parliamentary leaders hail development of Vietnam – Russia ties

The top legislator of Vietnam proposed that both sides deepen political and diplomatic connections, as well as parliamentary cooperation, through delegation exchanges, high-level meetings through various channels, and the successful organisation of a visit to Vietnam by the Speaker of Russia’s Federation Council and a trip to Russia by the NA Chairman to co-chair the 5th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee in 2026.
