Amateur and elite athletes are invited to join the Hanoi Vertical Run, Vietnam’s highest stair climbing race, which will take place at the Landmark 72 building in the capital city on September 15.

The runners will compete to be the fastest to ascend the 1,914 steps that lead to the top of the 72-storey tower.

Participants will start off in groups of 10 to 15 at five-minute intervals to avoid bumping into each other. Each competitor will be equipped with an electronic timing chip that tracks their progress up the stairs and at the end provides the precise time that the participant crosses the finish line. Most are likely to take about 20 to 30 minutes to complete the race, although elite competitors can finish in about 10 minutes.

Direct registration is taking place at Landmark 72’s seventh floor fitness centre, and online registration close on August 31.
