The appeals court of Cambodia on Oct. 13 announced that it upheld the Sway Rieng court’s sentence for Sam Rainsy for damaging public assets and inciting racial discrimination.

Last January, the Sway Rieng provincial court gave a two-year jail term to the Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) President for uprooting border markers at the Cambodia-Vietnam borderline in October 2009.

On September 23, the Phnom Penh municipal court also sentenced Sam Rainsy to 10 years in jail for falsifying documents and maps to deter the Cambodian Government’s border demarcation and marker planting along the shared borderline with Vietnam .

At present, the SRP President is living in self-exile abroad./.
