Kuala Lumpur (VNA) - The 19th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (AMMTC) on September 11 agreed to present three ASEAN Leaders’ Declarations at the 47th ASEAN Summit in this October.
Malaysian Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said one of the declarations, led by Malaysia, focuses on combating money laundering to strengthen regional financial integrity.
He said another, put forward by Vietnam, aims to strengthen cooperation in locating and arresting fugitives, with Malaysia backing the proposal and stressing the need for ASEAN countries to share information in this effort.
The third, initiated by Indonesia, leverages sports as a tool to build societal resilience against extremism.
The Malaysian Minister expressed his honour that Malaysia is working alongside other ASEAN member states in the shared mission of building a safer and stronger region for future generations./.
