Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam has recorded significant achievements over years, particularly in industrialisation, economic growth and social welfare, bringing tangible benefits to its people, Venezuelan Ambassador to Vietnam Juan Carlos Fernández Juárez has said.
In a recent interview with the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) on Vietnam’s socio-economic development as the 14th National Party Congress approaches, the ambassador described these accomplishments as clear evidence of the sound leadership and policies of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese Government, which place people at the centre of development, are grounded in industrialisation, and creatively apply Ho Chi Minh Thought.
Referring to the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, scheduled to take place from January 19 to 25, the diplomat said the event presents an important opportunity to continue policies that have proven effective in recent years. He noted that Vietnam has increasingly consolidated its position in Southeast Asia and enhanced its role on the international stage, including in Latin America.
According to him, Venezuela is closely following the upcoming congress with strong interest and high expectations, viewing it as a chance for Vietnam to maintain and further promote policies that have delivered success in recent years. He also highlighted the Party’s rigorous and consistent policy-making process as a key factor enabling Vietnam not only to achieve domestic development but also to elevate its standing regionally and globally.
On bilateral relations, the ambassador underscored that Vietnam and Venezuela recently marked the 36th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties (December 18, 1989 - 2025). To date, the two countries have signed more than 70 cooperation agreements, laying an important foundation for expanding collaboration across multiple fields.
In agriculture, he said, Venezuela regards Vietnam as an example to learn from. At present, Venezuela has achieved self-sufficiency in more than 90% of its food needs, drawing on Vietnam’s experience in overcoming war aftermath to become a country with a significant global role in the production of commodities such as rice and coffee. Venezuela is also striving to diversify its economy and accelerate industrialisation, and is keen to study Vietnam’s experience in this area.
Juan Carlos Fernández Juárez stressed that, for Venezuela, Vietnam is not only a partner but also a sincere and reliable friend, as well as a source of inspiration for overcoming difficulties, pursuing development and delivering practical benefits to the people./.
