Theplane took off from Malaysia ’s capital Kuala Lumpur and wasscheduled to land in Beijing , China at 6:30 on March 8 (localtime).
Malaysia Airlines General Director Ahmad Jauhari Yahyatold a press conference on March 8 that the Boeing 777-200 lost contactwith the Subang Air Traffic Control at 02:40 (local time) on March 8.
It was reported that at least 14 nationalities were among the 227 passengers and 12 crew members on board the missing plane.
Atpresent, Vietnam is joining Malaysia , China , the Philippinesand Singapore in search and rescue efforts for the missing aircraft.
Meanwhile, Malaysian Transport MinisterHishamuddin Hussein affirmed there are no signs of a plane crash, addingthat local authorities are doing their utmost to locate the missingplane and waiting for exact information from the Malaysian army as wellas from the Vietnamese side.-VNA
